Flight of the MunchilusMixed media on hardboard
The Flight began as a sketchbook collage of sweet wrappers, then became a painted collage using paint swatches for the fan. I used that as the basis for the plan for an architectural competition project for a House for the Queen of Hearts. But I always thought it looked like something Baron von Munchausen might have flown or sailed home in. So when I replaced the fan with paint, added the glass with the compass and nautilus shell, it became the Munchilus. I have plans for another one called "In the Shadow of the Munchilus" - one day perhaps.
